Brea gets busy

An action-packed few weeks, and plenty of opportunities for poster printing, lie ahead in Brea, California, beginning with the dedication of the Brea War Memorial at 1:00 pm this Sunday, November 11.

Gracing the north face of the civic center, this new memorial recognizes those who have served and died in the military. Nineteen members of Brea who have fallen in the line of duty will be paid tribute to at the event.

The ceremony will feature live music, a time of remembrance, and an honor guard. The memorial was designed by Susan Narduli, a Los Angeles artist, and features a wall of remembrance bearing the names of the fallen soldiers, service flags, and medallions.

Later this month, ‘A Nutcracker Craft Boutique’ will be held on Friday and Saturday, November 16 and 17 in Brea. With over 250 vendors, there will be plenty of handcrafted, one-of-a-kind items available for gift-giving. Admission is $2 and proceeds will benefit local community programs. Parking is free but, due to the high number of expected shoppers at this event, strollers need to be left at home. The boutique will be held at the Brea Community Center, 695 East Madison Way, Brea.

As we move towards the festive season, Brea’s annual tree lighting ceremony will be held from 6:00 pm – 8:30 pm on Thursday, December 6, at the Brea Civic and Cultural Center, 1 Civic Center Circle, Brea. This annual celebration will feature live entertainment and both Mr. and Mrs. Claus. Hot chocolate and cookies will be served during the event and kids can have their picture taken with Santa.
