Rodeo season ready to begin in Tehachapi

The Tehachapi Mountain Rodeo Association kicks off the new season with an open Junior Rodeo this weekend

It starts off with the Pee Wee events for kids aged six and younger. The youngsters will compete in the new stick horse racing competition, as well as stick horse barrel racing and dummy roping.

The ever popular ‘mutton busting’ will end the Pee Wee competition. Buckaroos, juniors, and seniors will compete in barrel racing, pole bending, team roping, breakaway, steer stopping, chute dogging, goat and calf tying, and calf and steer riding.

Participants need to preregister at the rodeo’s website in time to make an appearance on Sunday, April 7, at the Kern County Fairgrounds, 1142 S P Street, Bakersfield. Participants should arrive bright and early, as signups will be held from 7:30 am – 8:30 am. The rodeo begins at 9:00 am.

The season of rodeo rambunctiousness continues with a series of events at the Tehachapi Event Center and Rodeo Grounds located at 601 South Dennison Road in Tehachapi. Event dates are June 23, July 28, and September 8, before it comes to a conclusion on October 6 with the Rodeo Finals.

Fans can keep up with the rodeo’s activities by following it on Facebook or, for more information, can call Heidi at (661) 332-3952. Junior rodeos can help kids develop discipline, character, and self-esteem – something that organizers may wish to highlight on any promotion poster printing carried out to encourage people to take part.
