June 3, 2013 by James
Bakersfield is offering a couple of ways to entertain the kids this month, with one opportunity taking place over the next couple of days.
Parents can bring the kids to see their favorite Sesame Street characters in ‘Sesame Street Live: Can’t Stop Singing’ performing Tuesday, June 4 to Wednesday, June 5 at the Rabobank Theater & Convention Center, 1001 Truxtun Avenue, Bakersfield.
Performance time are at 7:00 pm on Tuesday and 10:30 am and 7:00 pm Wednesday. In the play, Elmo is in trouble after he snags Abby Cadabby’s magic wand and the fun begins. Tickets are priced at $12 – $55. For more information, call (800) 745-3000.
Those who particularly enjoy the show could consider bringing the fun home by using poster printing to create life-size portraits of Sesame Street characters to decorate the kids’ bedrooms.
Also this month, the iconic kids tale ‘Charlie and the Chocolate Factory’ will be performed Friday, June 7-22, at the Bakersfield Community Theater, 2400 S Chester Ave, Bakersfield.
The story follows five children who are the lucky recipients of the reclusive Willy Wonka’s gold ticket and their trip through his magical chocolate factory. A dream come true for Charlie Bucket, the trip tests his fortitude and honesty.
Based on the book by Roald Dahl, tickets are $12 for adults or $10 for children aged 12 and younger and seniors aged 65 or older. Presale tickets are only $8. For more information, call the theater box office at (661) 831-8114.
