Enjoy the beauty of the Virginia Flower and Garden Expo

The Virginia Flower and Garden Expo will take place at the Virginia Beach Convention Center on January 20-22. The event is presented by the Virginia Horticultural Foundation and the theme of the Expo is “creating the beautiful tomorrow.” Admission is $10; children 12 and under are admitted free. The first 100 receive a free calendar from the Steel Pier Classic and Surf Art Expo.

There will be a lot of activities at the Expo including landscape and floral displays, a flower market, guest speakers and demonstrations, an art show and children’s activities. The children’s activities will include a miniature garden, face painting, flower making, bulb planting, “critter” making, magic shows and dancing demonstrations.

In addition, there will be over 100 vendors selling anything remotely related to horticulture. Vendors will also be providing informative literature on flowers and gardening. Virginia Beach brochure printers will most likely be called upon to provide some of that literature. Brochures can include instructions on doing your own landscaping, on planning your own garden or a listing of courses that those interested in horticulture can take.

By the end of January, many of us are tired of the bleak landscapes we see all around us. The trees have all lost their leaves, the flowers are all hibernating and the grass is either covered with snow or is turning brown. A flower and garden expo will help to raise the moods of all who attend. It will mean the return of spring for at least a weekend.
