Music festivals dominate Norfolk culture this summer

July 8, 2017 by

There are two music festivals taking place next month in Norfolk in celebration of traditional music.

The first festival will be the 2nd annual NorFolk Festival, which is presented by Brackish Water Jamboree and will see a portion of all proceeds donated to the Children’s Hospital of the King’s Daughters. Among those slated to perform at this year’s festival include the Hackensaw Boys, South Hall Banks, Jason Ring and Bob Zentz, and Jeanne McDougall.

The next week will feature the 17th annual Norfolk Latino Music Festival, which celebrates Latin music with performers from both the local area and much further afield. There will be a dance floor so the public can take part in the likes of salsa, merengue, and guaguanco dancing. In addition, there will be a variety of Latin cuisine and drinks. Arts and crafts vendors will also be on hand.

Both of these events will likely attract plenty of Norfolk residents who may learn about it from flyers inserted into local newspapers.

The NorFolk Festival will be held at O’Connor’s Brewing Company on August 12 beginning at 12:00 noon. Admission is free. Call 757-623-2337 for more information.

The Norfolk Latino Music Festival will take place at Town Point Park on August 19 from 5:00 to 10:00 pm. Tickets are free of charge. To find out the latest about the festival, call 757-441-2345.
