McLean to welcome in the holidays
November 22, 2012 by James
The holidays are almost here and communities throughout the United States are holding holiday parades and holding holiday celebrations. Children, especially, love a parade. McLean, Virginia is no different. The annual Winterfest Parade features floats, assorted vehicles, marching bands, community organizations, and local companies.
The parade is presented by the Greater McLean Chamber of Commerce and all proceeds raised from food trucks which will be located along the parade route and donations will collected along the parade route to benefit Share of McLean. Pre-parade entertainment will take place at Langley Shopping Center. Among other things, free popcorn and water will be given out. A booth will also be set up to provide information on the Express Lanes. No doubt organizers will be working with McLean printing companies to design and print literature to be handed out to the general public.
Sponsorships are available for the parade from $500 to $2,500. Local companies can also take part in the parade and display their company logo on floats or personal vehicles.
Share of McLean provides support for needy families and collects gift cards from pharmacies, supermarkets, and clothing stores to give to clients. It also collects items such as used furniture, clothing, and computers, which are then repaired if necessary and given to clients. The organization also runs a food bank.
The 5th annual McLean Winterfest Parade will take place on Old Chain Bridge Road on December 2 from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm. For more information, call 703-917-0611.
