Northern Virginia residents to ring in winter season

Families from the Manassas area are preparing to catch some holiday spirit by gathering at a local shopping venue for a day of fun.
Just before December arrives, the ‘Holidays Are Here!’ celebration will be making its return to the Reston Town Center. A professional printing company may be designing flyers and posters right now to help market this event around the community.
The stores at the outdoor mall will open earlier than usual, as will the ice skating pavilion located on-site. Visitors can expect to find deals on a wide variety of items as they embrace the first day of the holiday shopping season.
The event will include a number of activities for attendees of all ages. Kids will be welcome to participate in the Gingerbread Man Mile and Tot Trot races. The entire family will enjoy watching the Reston Holiday Parade, which has been a tradition since 1990 and always includes balloons, marching bands, antique cars, and Santa Claus.
Children will have a chance to take photos with St. Nick after the procession. After evening falls, he will light a tree for the crowd.
Attendees will be encouraged to end their day with a traditional carriage ride. They will also be invited to explore an elaborate gingerbread village at the Hyatt Regency Hotel.
The festivities will begin at 8:00 am on Friday, November 29. Reston Town Center is located at 11900 Market Street. Those in need of driving directions or further details about individual activities may call (703) 689-4699.
