March 12, 2014 by Sarah
Inisfail, Inc. will be hosting this year’s 15th Greater Manassas St. Patrick’s Day Parade at the weekend. People of all persuasions are invited to come downtown to watch the parade and enjoy the celebration of all things Irish as the big day comes closer.
The parade will start at the junction of Prescott Avenue and Quarry Road in Manassas and will meander through the city streets. Participants in the parade will include a team of firefighters from Virginia, representatives from Washington and Alexandria, and the always popular Police Pipe Band, which is made up of pipers from multiple local, state, and federal agencies from around the area. The Marine Corps Color Guard will also be marching with the bands.
In addition to the parade, there will be various vendors selling food and goods, and dancing entertainment from Irish groups. The Ancient Order of Hibernians Divisions will be performing too. Those who attend the parade should be sure to bring a camera as there will surely be plenty of opportunities for having digital business cards made.
The parade will be held Saturday, March 15, starting at 11:00 am and finishing sometime around 1:00 pm in Old Town Manassas. There is no cost to attend, but parking can be difficult so attendees are advised to take the Metro.
