Nominations being accepted for Best of Reston

October 7, 2013 by

Suggestions are currently being accepted for the Best of Reston Awards, which will be presented by the Greater Reston Chamber of Commerce and Cornerstones next year.

While it is preferred that nominees belong to the Chamber, it is not a requirement. The general public, as well as the nominees themselves, put up the name of someone who they feel should be recognized. Those who are not eligible for nomination include elected officials, schools or congregations, and employees of the Chamber of Commerce or Cornerstones. Posthumous nominations can also not be accepted.

There are five categories of awards, recognizing both small and large businesses, as well as community organizations, individuals and young people. The Robert E. Simon Lifetime Achievement Award is also presented, but the winner is chosen by the selection committee.

Winning one of these awards, or even being nominated, will be a feather in the cap for any individual or business. Commercial companies especially can use the award as leverage in obtaining more business. They can let their customers know about it by including a flyer in with company mailings; perhaps provided by Reston printing companies.

Those putting names forward should be aware that the deadline for nominations is November 13 at 5:00 pm. The winners will be announced at a reception on April 10, 2014 to be held at the Hyatt Regency Reston.
