Take a trip to the Richmond Jazz Festival

July 8, 2012 by

The Richmond Jazz Festival at Maymont will take place from August 10 – 12. Tickets are $20 for August 10, $50 for August 11 or 12, or a $90 weekend ticket is also available. These prices apply to persons aged three years and up. A cabana can be rented for the weekend for $1,000 which allows people to live on the festival grounds. It also gives hirers four tickets to the festival, program journals, and T-shirts.

The festival will kick off with a concert at the Hippodrome Theater featuring Lonnie Liston Smith. Beginning on August 10, it will feature over 20 local and international jazz and R&B musicians. Acts expected to appear across two stages include George Benson, Najee, Kim Waters, and Jeff Lorber. In addition, there will be food concessions and commercial vendors selling their wares, although visitors can bring their own food if they wish.

The organizers of the event will be expecting visitors from all over the area, including nearby Glen Allen. They will also no doubt be working with local printing companies to provide them with necessary items such as banners, programs, and posters. While this is a very well-known annual event, flyers can be distributed to let people know the dates it is taking place and who is expected to appear. In addition, T-shirts and a program journal will be available for purchase.

Several communities throughout the United States have jazz festivals, as it is a type of music that just seems to lend itself to outdoor summer concerts. It offers the perfect way to introduce the whole family to live jazz and R&B music.
