Celebrate the Pet Expo

February 16, 2012 by

The 13th annual Pet Expo will take place at the Showplace in Richmond on February 18 from 10 am-4 pm. Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for children between 2 and 12; pets and children under 2 are admitted free.

The Pet Expo is a fundraiser for Henrico Humane Society which serves Greater Richmond. There will be over 75 exhibitors selling animal-related products or informing the public about pet services such as animal rescue organizations. Pet lovers from all over the Greater Richmond area including Glen Allen will most likely have this event on their calendar. Printing companies will have been very busy providing the organizers with advertising materials and any community organizations who will be attending with brochures and flyers.

In addition to the vendors and exhibitors, there will also be lots of fun activities to take part in. There will be dog agility contests, a parade of adoptable dogs, puppy races, various dog contests, demonstrations of special pet tricks, a demonstration by the Caring Canines Therapy Dogs, a petting zoo, live adoptions, a silent auction, caricature drawings of your pet, and Canine Good Citizen testing; several of these activities involve an extra cost. There will also be special appearances by Nutzy from the Richmond Flying Squirrels and Bonnie the Bunny from Bon Secours.

Organizations such as the Henrico Humane Society need all the help we can give them. So many pets are abandoned that many healthy animals are destroyed just for lack of room. The Humane Society educates people on responsible pet ownership and strives to lessen this needless problem.
