Honor the heroes in the Arlington community

The arlington Chamber of Commerce is presenting the 30th annual Valor Awards at the Fort Myer Officers’ Club on April 11 from 11:30am – 2:30pm. The cost is $55 for chamber members; donations of $25, $50, $75 and $100 are also available for those who cannot attend or who want to donate extra. Sponsorships are available from $250 to $2500.
The Valor Awards celebrate fire, police, and sheriff’s department employees who have shown exceptional performance in their duties and heroic actions that have been extraordinary. In addition to the award, the winners also receive gift certificates. The award given to the Arlington heroes is a certificate suitable for framing. Local printing companies can help make certificate awards look great and allow the winners to display it with pride.
Extra donations help to ensure that the award winners can bring their families to join in this celebration with them. There is nothing greater than for the child of a police officer or a fireman to see how much the community appreciates their father or mother; bursting with pride and something they can tell their own children.
It became apparent after the terrorism threat of the last few years how much we take our police and firemen for granted. They put their lives on the line every single day even in routine tasks, such as handing out speeding tickets. Many communities honor their public servants with similar awards or celebrations. This is the least we can do.
