Get ready for the 2012 Green Living Expo
February 9, 2012 by James
The 3rd annual Green Living Expo will take place at Washington-Lee High School on March 17 from 10 am – 4 pm. This is a free event presented by Arlingtonians for a Clean Environment (ACE) whose mission it is to find “practical solutions to a sustainable lifestyle.”
The event will feature seminars, green living exhibits, practical tips for becoming environmentally conscious, a raffle and children’s activities such as crafts. Exhibitors who provide everything from energy conservation products to waste reduction services will be at the Green Living Expo. It will be a perfect opportunity to become educated about what is available and what you can do to improve your environment.
Exhibitors rent space for $300-500 and can apply to present a 30-minute seminar; community groups and other non-profit vendors receive a discount. Sponsorships are also available and sponsors will be mentioned in the program given to everyone who attends the event.
Events such as this help us to understand how fragile our planet really is. Thankfully, many companies in Arlington have already adopted green practices. For example, most printing companies now use vegetable-based inks and recycled paper. They also make a point of disposing of any hazardous materials they may have used in a responsible manner.
DynamicGraphics.com has some suggestions on ways printing companies can adopt green practices including considering alternative papers to use, educating their clients on why green products often cost more, knowing the industry standards and staying informed. Going green is almost just using your common sense to not want to leave the planet in a worse state than you found it.
