Unique art exhibit coming to Alexandria

December 6, 2013 by

The Primary Colors Art Exhibit is to begin next month, presented by the Del Ray Artisans.

The aim of the exhibit, which is curated by Betsy Mead, is to challenge Del Ray Artisans and other local artists to create works of art only using the three primary colors (red, yellow, and blue) without mixing them. They are allowed to use black for outlining purposes.

An opening reception will be held on the first day of the exhibit, which will give visitors a chance to meet the artists or some like-minded individuals. In addition to the exhibit, the film Primary Colors will be shown on January 18 from 7:00 pm – 11:00 pm, and a $3 donation is recommended.

An exhibit such as this will probably interest many people in Alexandria, including those who work for graphic arts or printing companies. It may serve to motivate them to try something similar.

Del Ray Artisans offers a place for artists of all levels to practice and improve upon their art. The organization also offers art education such as life drawing, collage cutups, or an art camp for children during the summer.

The Primary Colors Art Exhibit is taking place at the Del Ray Artisans gallery in the Nicholas A. Colasanto Center from January 3 to February 2. Admission is free and the venue is open from Thursday through Sunday beginning at 12:00 pm. For more information about the exhibit, or the related events, call 703-838-4827.
