Celebrate the birthday of Alexandria and the USA
July 5, 2012 by James
The USA/Alexandria Birthday Celebration will take place at Oronoco Bay Park on July 7 from 4:00 am – 10:00 PM. This event is free to attend
The joint celebration will honor the 263rd birthday of the city of Alexandria and the 236th birthday of the United States of America. There will be lots of activities in which to take part, including children’s activities, food and refreshment sales, birthday cake, musical entertainment from the Alexandria Symphony Orchestra, an awards presentation by Mayor William D. Euille, community exhibits, and a fireworks display.
The food for sale will include typical items such as hot dogs, hamburgers, and ice cream, with guests also bring their own picnic if they so desire. The awards presented will be the Park and Recreation Commission’s CIVIC awards, which honors volunteers who have made great contributions to the community. Nominees can include individuals, groups, clubs, organizations, or businesses.
No doubt, the community exhibits will include information on local charitable and civic organizations in Alexandria. Such organizations are very likely to be calling upon local brochure printers to provide them with literature to give to those who pass by their booths. Brochure printing services are very reasonably priced and are invaluable for passing on important information about an organization.
The fireworks display will take place at 9:30 pm and will feature the 1812 overture and cannon fire provided by the US Marine Corps. The rain date for the fireworks display is July 8.
This sounds like the perfect way to celebrate two important birthdays, with lots of fun and activities for the whole family to enjoy.
