Art and awards on offer this weekend
October 30, 2012 by Mark
‘Art on the Town’ is a recurring monthly event that happens on the first Friday of each month. This event has also become known as the ‘Art Loop’ and features a variety of self-guided tours and stops along the route. On the same night as November’s event, and mentioned in the Art Loop’s October magazine, the 2012 Christi Awards Gala will be held at Christina Cultural Arts Center, recognizing some of the area’s note noteworthy contributors to its art scene.
Art on the Town was founded in 1988 and features some of the best artisans this area has to offer. The tour makes it possible for individuals to plan their own self-guided visits of the various art studios, museums, art venues, and galleries that are open and participating in this event. Many of the local restaurants and pubs are open to serve the public and, after every Art on the Town event, there is an after party that begins at 1:00 am.
The event features many fine artisans and some renowned local artists, presented on handicap-accessible displays in the local venues. This is a great night to stroll, enjoy great art, and appreciate friends’ company – all while getting some exercise and fresh air.
Poster printing, brochure printing, and flyer printing may have been used to promote this self-guided art tour to residents in this community. The next ‘Art on the Town’ event takes place this Friday, November 2, from 5:30 pm to 8:00 pm in the downtown core of Wilmington, Delaware.
