Anchorage theater-goers can see famous actor’s play

Comedian and actor Steve Martin’s latest play ‘Picasso at the Lapin Agile’ is coming to Anchorage, and will give audiences a chance to see another side of this versatile performer.

The title ‘Picasso at the Lapin Agile’ translates as ‘Picasso at the Nimble Rabbit’, which is the name of a cafe in Paris. The play, which Martin wrote in the absurdist tradition, puts Pablo Picasso and Albert Einstein in the cafe in 1904, just before Picasso’s work caught the eye of art experts, and before Einstein revealed his theory of relativity, which changed physics forever.

The play is a conversation between the two masterminds, who discuss the differences and similarities between art and science, and what the future might hold. Later on, they are joined by a third genius—wearing blue suede shoes who might be Elvis Presley—who has his own contributions to make to the conversation.

‘Picasso at the Lapin Agile’ is playing at the University of Alaska, Anchorage starting March 31, 2017, at 8:00 pm. Subsequent performances are April 1 at 8:00 pm, April 2 at 5:00 pm, April 7 at 8:00 pm, April 8 at 8:00 pm, and April 9 at 5:00 pm.

Events like this can benefit if organizers work with poster printing companies, which can create wonderful posters advertising the show.
