On Monday, July 23, a New Employer Workshop will be held at the Albuquerque Small Business Development Center located at 2501 Yale Blvd., SE, Suite 302, in Albuquerque, New Mexico. This event will begin at 8:30 am and run until 3:30 pm.
For small business owners planning to expand their company with a new intake of staff, this workshop is loaded with valuable information. During this daylong event, students will learn what they are responsible for when they hire people to work for them and what they need to do under both federal and state laws.
During the content-packed course, there will be four presenters on hand to discuss and teach what the current laws are, how to handle the laws correctly, and about filing requirements with all levels of government. There will be a number of topics open to discussion including bookkeeping, taxes and filing, workers compensation, minimum and hourly wages, and liabilities. Students will learn how to avoid the various pitfalls that occur in many small businesses, as well as the differences between independent contractors and employees. This information is essential to any business with the aim of growing and prospering. For people wishing to start a business or open business franchises, this program will provide all the information necessary to open on the right foot.
