On Thursday, June 21st, the SBA will be sponsoring “First Steps to Starting a Business – Business 101” at The Innovation Center located at 1636 Popps Ferry Road in Biloxi, Mississippi. This class will run from 5:30pm until 7:30pm.
Mitch McDowell and Connie Whitt, both from the Small Business Development Center, as well as Stephen Whitt from The Innovation Center will guide this workshop. If you have ever thought of owning a business or buying a franchise for sale, this is the workshop that will teach you the fundamentals. This seminar will teach you the basics about regulations including how to obtain a business license, what permits are required, how to complete the legal forms for business registration, how to recognize revenue penitential, the basics of marketing a small business, how to understand the terminology used by lending agencies and banks, how to draft an effective and accurate business plan, and how to source other resources required to open a new business. Through this workshop, students will come to understand the process used by other entrepreneurs to commercialize and conceptualize their business idea and turn it into a real business venture. During this session, students will learn what it takes to move from the idea to opening the doors, before falling into the pitfalls other business owners have suffered.
