Isn’t the print industry declining?

Look around and you’ll see that the print industry is alive and well. The simple fact is that businesses can’t afford not to advertise. Do I need industry experience?

We have capitalized on the Internet by using it as a powerful customer acquisition tool for owners. We have developed a tremendous Internet marketing program that helps generate leads for potential new clients, and each center has their own dedicated website that is optimized for their area of business. The Internet marketing program is available to owners and is managed by our in-house team, meaning that you don’t have to do it yourself.

The Internet has also created a huge market for cross media marketing, where businesses are looking to use our print products to drive web traffic. Direct mail remains popular because it has five times the response rate of email marketing, according to the 2015 DMA Response Rate Report. It is important, then, for businesses to take a multichannel marketing approach with print as the centerpiece.

What is Cross Media Marketing?

Cross media marketing is when an advertiser uses multiple types of marketing materials and integrates them across multiple media platforms. Such as having a call to action on a post card directing the recipient to a unique landing page in order to receive a discount on a product or service. Or placing a hashtag on a banner to drive traffic to the company’s social media pages. Minuteman Press owners work with their clients to help them integrate their marketing strategies.

Is there a lot of equipment involved?

Our centers start out with two digital printing systems, a couple of computers and some bindery equipment. These are all included in your investment. These digital print systems are clean and efficient. Any orders that you receive that cannot be produced in your center will be sent out to one of our vendors. This way you will never have to say no to a customer. Thanks to our vast network of vendors, you will never be limited by the equipment that you have in-house and you will be able to fulfill all of the unique needs of your clients including producing virtually anything you can put a name, image or logo on. This enables you to offer a wide variety of products without having to invest in a large amount of equipment and overhead.

What is the typical size of a Minuteman Press location?

The average size of a new Minuteman Press center will usually range from 800 to 1,200 sq. ft.

How does Minuteman Press define an area?

Each Minuteman Press franchise serves local clients in their communities and is an invaluable partner in their business. When doing area research for your location, we look at many factors such as the number of businesses, the business density, the competition in the area and other factors to determine if it’s a viable market for your center.

What are the hours of operation?

Since most Minuteman Press customers are other businesses, we recommend operating hours of Monday through Friday in the range of 8:30 am to 5:30 pm. Hours of operation are ultimately at your discretion.

Is there any type of Franchisee Advisory Committee?

In an effort to better assist the franchisees and to improve the system as a whole, we have created an advisory committee known as the President’s Million Dollar Circle. Membership is predicated on the franchisee attaining gross sales over one million dollars in the past fiscal year. Presently members’ gross sales range from 1 million to over 9.6 million dollars annually. The committee gives its input as to various matters that affect the franchise system such as advertising, equipment, personnel and product vendors. There is a scheduled meeting once a year in addition to the various surveys and questionnaires that are proposed to the members. Members also serve as panelists on various issues at the franchise conventions.

The membership fluctuates from year to year but a list of members is available upon request. As of December 31, 2015, there are 85 members of the President’s Million Dollar Circle.

We also have a “Marketing committee” in each country that we operate in. The Marketing committee is made up of franchise owners and Home Office staff. The purpose is to design and create marketing and advertising campaigns unique to each country.

Are Minuteman Press owners limited to the products and services they can offer?

Minuteman Press franchise owners have the unique ability to offer a wide variety of products and services to businesses that include traditional printing but also go way beyond it. Our centers today offer products and services such as promotional products, branded apparel, signs, banners, car wraps, website design, marketing consulting, packaging supplies, and shipping, to name a few. Because we can produce anything you can put a name, image or logo on, our owners find that their clients use their Minuteman Press centers for not just printing but for help with marketing, design, advertising and branding as well.

Since we strive to have our franchises become a one-stop solution to fulfill the needs of their clients, we do not restrict the types of design, print, and marketing services that our franchise owners can provide. Our research and development team continues to find new products and services to help owners expand their reach even further.

Is Minuteman Press a family oriented business?

Minuteman Press was started by Roy Titus and his son Bob. Today Bob’s son and daughter are working in the business full time as well as his younger brother Gary. Minuteman Press was built on strong family values and those values have resonated into the entire franchise system. Today more than 125 centers are either being run by second generation or will eventually be run by the second generation and many have third generation working in the business.

Do you offer assistance to military veterans?

We have the utmost respect for the men and women of the U.S. Armed Forces and in order to show our appreciation for the sacrifices that they have made we offer special financing options for Veterans. For new franchise locations, we offer a $10,000 Veterans discount off of the licensing fee of a new location. We have found that Veterans who become franchise owners with us are very effective at following the Minuteman Press system, which helps them succeed in business.

Does Minuteman Press provide an exit strategy?

People come into the Minuteman Press franchise system with many different goals. Some say that they want to build a business over a five to ten year period then sell it. Some say they want a business that they can pass down to their children. Whatever your goals are we are there to help you achieve them. When it is time to sell the business we will help take care of the advertising and prescreening of potential buyers.

How much does a Minuteman Press franchise cost?

If you were to lease your equipment the total investment will range from $108,115 to $163,865. There are third party financing options available to qualified buyers. The initial investment with financing options generally ranges from $30,000-$50,000. You are not required to use our financing.

What financing options does Minuteman Press offer?

There are several financing options available both with us as well as third-party options.

What does the investment include?

Total investment includes virtually everything you need to start your business: area research and site selection for your franchise location; lease negotiations; overseeing and coordination of renovations; standard furniture, fixtures and signage; equipment including digital printing systems; training and onsite setup of your center.

What is the average gross sales of a Minuteman Press center?

According to Item 19 in our FDD, the average gross sales of a franchised Minuteman Press center in the United States which had been in business for at least one year prior to the study, was $608,904. This is based on the twelve month period from January 1, 2016 through December 31, 2016 and represents 84% of the U.S. centers operating at that time.

How much money can I make as a Minuteman Press franchisee?

Due to our wide variety of products and services, the earning potential of a Minuteman Press location is unlimited. We have a business with a high net to gross ratio, and during the research phase you will be able to meet with existing franchisees to ask them about their business success. The most successful franchise owners are those who follow the Minuteman Press program closest. There is also a lot of hard work involved in owning your own business, that is what helps make achieving your goals so rewarding.

What are the royalties?

We have developed a unique royalty incentive program that owners are eligible to participate in. For eligible owners, royalties are 6% of gross monthly sales and are capped at a reasonable monthly sales level. You do not pay any royalties on sales above that level. Because of our capped royalty structure, we are able to put our owners in a position where they can receive far more in value than they pay in royalties.
